Part two of a two part speaker series on Integrative Treatment of Complex Trauma for Children and Adolescents with Dr. Cheryl Lanktree
This presentation will describe the evidence-based treatment model,
Integrative Treatment of Complex Trauma for Children (ITCT-C)
focusing on play/expressive therapy for trauma and
relational/attachment processing, and mindfulness techniques for
affect regulation. This workshop will present practical interventions
with case examples, for six to twelve year olds and their caretakers,
included in the book, Treating Complex Trauma in Children and their
Families: An Integrative Approach, co-authored by Drs. Cheryl
Lanktree and John Briere (Sage, 2016). ITCT-C is a component-based
approach that takes into account the child’s developmental
functioning and affect regulation capacity, trauma exposures and
impacts, attachment history, systemic/environmental influences and
resources, and cultural factors, while identifying and addressing each
individual child’s and family’s specific needs. Self-care
strategies for clinicians who work with children and families
experiencing complex trauma will also be discussed.
